Soft Rain was written and recorded for Old Dominion University’s virtual event “Stronger Together: an AAPI Solidarity Reading” on May 3, 2021 in response to heightened attacks against Asian American/Pacific Islander communities. It is dedicated to my mother, Ahrung (Soonja Woo Cho), an artist and Korean-American U.S. citizen whose art is a fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics. The composition was inspired by her poem “Friend.”
