Happy Thoughts

for violin, cello, piano (2001)

Duration: 7′

Happy Thoughts is an early composition inspired by happy memories during my undergraduate years in Charlottesville at the University of Virginia, especially growing into a circle of friends among music majors there. Daniel Pinkham, a nanophysicist who played cello in the Charlottesville-University Symphony Orchestra, performed with me in the premiere and remains one of my closest friends. This is the first composition I wrote after deciding to switch career paths from medicine to music.
